I've been a Tele actor for my whole life, and I've honestly avoided ownership Gibsons for many years due to the poor quality over the last 2-3 decades. Yet, if you are a fan of what Gibson used to be, this is a truly fantastic guitar. They've really gone back to their roots with the new CEO in place and they left Henry'southward "RoboTuning" era behind. I will say, I wasn't super impressed by the stock pickups, they're a little muddy for me, merely that'south just my preference, so I wired it up with some '57 Classics, and some bumblebee caps, and information technology'southward by far the best modern SG I've e'er played. Granted, I already sold it, as I bought an American Original 60'due south Tele that won my middle over, but notwithstanding, if you're a Gibson or SG fan, look no further, this is a good one. The neck is great, the build quality is good, and…..It STAYS IN Melody!!!
Gibson quality is back. Guitar is perfect from finish to playability! Sweetwater is also groovy. Volition never consider ordering from any other online music store.
A beautiful guitar, incredible quality and sound. thank you lot sweetwater and my sales engineer keith Owen for letting me get this gibson.
actually this re-upshot is more similar the 63 to 65 SG Standard, which I daresay is the well-nigh popular incarnation of this guitar with vintage blues stone players like me. I was pleased Gibson was making this specific model at this price Great job on frets, accurate body contours, nice nitrocellulose finish, actually looks like a Jonathan Apple, just like the original ones, and as noted by a Sweetwater rep on the phone, it smells actually good! The pickups sound and carry but similar the original ones I've played. I did a set up on it with my favorite VR-10 strings and it is settling in wonderfully and stays in tune, maestro performs smoothly and arm stays tight. I added more vintage correct knobs, the script didn't look right on the mill ones, and had to add together knob pointers! I changed the wiring to 50s mode and this thing is a humdinger I actually like it!
Awesome! I debated this buy for nigh a month. I considered Stratocaster, Gretsch, and Les Paul. I finally narrowed it down to the Les Paul or the SG. I felt like I would prefer having a Vibrola. As well, the SG is a full two lbs. lighter than comparable LP. While 2 lbs isn't much, if you are playing a long session, it will make a difference. I've had the SG for two weeks, and it is awesome. It'south an like shooting fish in a barrel player, great audio, long sustain, and the Vibrola adds another dimension to its creativity potential. The specialists at Sweetwater were very helpful, and their service was top rate.
